{Things overheard}

Photobucket

over the past couple of weeks...

"What the smokes!?!"

"Put it in your back pocket... you know, your butt pocket."

"Can you stop it skeeter?" referring to {Skunk}

"I'm Mr. Banana Puss."

"Let's go play that we live in the United States of America"... later on... "And then I'll put the flag into the moon" putting the flag that he made at school into his
mattress. When I started cracking up he became embarrassed.

{Bug}: "I'm a Ninja Grandpa."
Grandpa: "What do Ninja's do?"
{Bug}: "Well, I'm playing with a balloon right now."
...Of course!

{Keep An Eye On #7}

{Bug} has been so excited all summer long for soccer to start. His birthday just misses the deadline so he was not allowed to play last year. Well our first game was 2 weeks ago and wouldn't you know it, he woke up that morning throwing up and lethargic. It didn't last all day though. He was ready to go play soccer about 3 hours after the game was over. He was so sad. So today was his first game that he played in. His team is the Gold Lions & we played against the Blue Thunder today. It was so much fun to watch and I was so proud of him, especially when he fell into the splits and someone stepped on his leg. He sat out for a quarter but toughened up and went back out there to play. He had so much fun! That's my lil' soccer player... & yes, that makes me officially a "Soccer MOM"!! LOL! On a side note, it's been sorta hard for {Skunk}. He really wants to get out there & play with his big brother. Funny guy.

You can see more pictures at the team the new blog I just started for them... http://ourgoldlions.blogspot.com

{Happy Birthday Big Bug}

It blows my mind to think that 5 years & 4 1/2 hours ago I gave birth to my 4 lb lil {Bug}....

He's not so little any more. Today he turned 5 years old!! And he LOVES it! He also loved that I made him a Candy Land birthday cake. (I spent 2 hours frosting and decorating this baby!)

What a goofy guy he is! Always pullin' funny faces and making us all laugh.

He really did have such a fun birthday. And I didn't even go overboard this year with decorations and guests. It was actually fun and relaxing for me too. {Bug} has been so great to share his new toys with his lil' brother too. I'm so proud of him!

{Did I Just Say That?}

Well, it happened.

I just repeated something that I know I heard my mother say to us kids a thousand times when we were lil'. My {Bug} has snuck out to the road at least a million times this summer. As I was scolding him on the way into the house, it just came out of my mouth... "How many times do I have to tell you?"

Well, a stupid mommy question like that deserves the answer that it received. {Bug} stopped and looked at me and as he was sucking on a spoon (who knows why) and couldn't speak, so he just held his hand up to show me 5 lil' fingers.... FIVE FINGERS!!!

I just looked at him and said "Well, I've already told you 5 times. So no more!"

...yeah right!

{Bug} & I are so excited for this movie to come out this fall. It's an adaptation of one of his favorite books. Looks like a good one!

{A Lesson Learned... Hopefully}

Photobucket

Well, as I look at this picture now, it doesn't look as bad as seeing it in person. The story behind this picture... Last night while I was in the shower {Bug} runs in and yells, "I poked {Skunk} with a stick and he got a sliver". I roll my eyes and think, "great, I get to fish another sliver out". A minute or so later my mom peeks her head in and asks me if m'boys have health coverage. Really? Now I'm hurrying a bit more as she tells me that the sliver is more like a stick and it's stuck in his arm and she can't get it out cause it just pulls all his skin up and it's just really stuck, plus she doesn't know how far it's in and she's scared that it punctured a main vessel that will shoot everywhere if she pulls it out. It was a lil swollen & red from irritation and you could see a lil blood trying to come out. Another moment later I hear the bathroom door open and then shut. I peek out of the curtain and see {B} standing there with fear, guilt, & genuine concern all over his face. He had a lil puppy whine going on and he was biting his fingers and holding back the tears. I asked him what the matter was and he expressed that he was sad that {S} was hurt and that he didn't want him to cry when the Dr. takes it out of his arm. I tried to comfort him by telling him that everything would be okay and that {S} & I still love him and it's okay to feel sad for {S} right now. I tell you that kid put teeth marks in his fingers all the way to the Now Care and up until the stick was out of {S}'s arm. It was a good learning experience to have him along. In fact when the Nurse Practitioner first saw {B}, she thought that he was the injured one cause of the pain on his face. {S} on the other hand was a brave lil trooper. From what I was told he screamed pretty loud when the stick went into his arm, but the rest of the time he didn't cry, even when the Nurse Practitioner pulled it out. The stick was a lil' skinnier than a match stick and 1/4" long, 1/2 of which was in his arm plus an additional 1/4" of frayed sliver size fragments attached to it (a total of 3/8" in his arm past the skin) that all came out in one piece, to the relief of me and the Now Care physicians. They almost thought they were gonna have to give him a numbing shot but it worked out fine without. Both my boys got suckers in the end for both being so brave and I'm almost positive that sticks won't be used by {B} to poke with anymore... knock on...stick? ;) A bit of an expensive lesson, but one well worth it.

{Hair Affair}

I LOVE m'boys hair!!! It's long and shaggy and SO STINKIN' CUTE!! I HATE combing it in the morning though... ughhh!! What rats nests! I'll most likely be cutting it late spring. I'm sure it will kill me to do so. Here are some before/after shots of just after they wake up in the morning...
{Bug} has the sweetest cowlick in the front, and has since the day he was born. What a QT-pie!

I love {Skunks} natural waves and golden locks... it's just brown underneath, so they are going bye bye after the cut. :(

{too young for zits}

Today {Bug} came to me and said, "Kiss my pimples." I laughed cause I always come to him and say, "Let me kiss your dimples." He was a little confused. I told him he didn't have to worry about pimples for at least 8 more years... yikes, that day is coming way too fast!

{...too much cake...}

The other day at breakfast, my sweet {Bug} asked me "Mom, am I gonna have a lot of birthdays... like 14?" I smiled (I love his definition of 'a lot') and told him that, yes he would have a lot of birthdays, probably like 80. He got the most exasperated look on his face and with deep concern said "oh no, that is gonna make me sick" I asked him why and he told me, "that is too much cake". I loved it and had to share with you all. Kid's truly do say the darnedest things.

{Playin' Catch-Up...}

at years end. I know, I know! But thank you for being patient. It's been a busy month... or two. I'm just gonna toss in some picts of what we've been up to. And why am I doing this at 2 am, you may ask. Besides the fact it's the only solitary time I'll have this week, I just got done making the last of the Christmas presents. I would tell you what it was that I was working on for days on end, but my family members are loyal lookers on my blog and I don't want to spoil the surprise, now that we are this close to Christmas. I'll share that afterwards. Enjoy...

We moved into Bapa & Grammy Lu's place a month ago... this is how the paint job on m'boys room turned out...
